Description
In the Grodzisko Pańskie, multiple layers of relics of a fortified settlement were discovered. Basing on the finds, it was established that the inhabitants lived off horn and bone craft, smithery, smelting and a range of other household trades. Excavations uncovered fragments of furnaces, hearths and buildings. Many objects of daily use were also found, such as knives, sickles, keys, and metal elements of a sword shaft, spurs, bolts and arrowheads. The fortification, which functioned at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, was destroyed by a sudden fire. One very interesting discovery was that of a workplace in a nearby cave, belonging to a counterfeiter of copper coins, minted during the reign of King Jan Kazimierz.
